US dollar slips more than EGP 0.22 at CBE on Thursday

The US dollar broke through EGP 18 for buying at the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) on Monday, for the first time since the flotation on 3 November.

The price of the US dollar dropped more than EGP 0.22 against the Egyptian pound at the Central Bank of Egypt on Thursday, registering EGP 18.295 for buying and EGP 18.6497 for selling, compared to 18.4507 for buying and 18.8773 for selling on Wednesday.

In government-owned banks—National Bank of Egypt, Banque du Cairo, and Banque Misr—the price decreased to EGP 18.15 for buying and EGP 18.40 for selling, compared to EGP 18.25 for buying and 18.50 for selling on Wednesday.

In private banks, dollar prices ranged between EGP 18.20 and EGP 18.50 for buying and EGP 18.50 and EGP 18.95 for selling.
