The Confederation of African Football is celebrating the 12th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which is taking place in Cameroon. This year marks the second time that Egypt has participated in this competition. The first time Egypt qualified was in 1998 when it was held in Nigeria.

The Egyptian national women’s team includes the following players: Maha Eldemerdash, Samia Adam, Sarah Abdallah, Rana Hamdy, Fayza Hidar, Miran Mohsen, Mervat Farouk, Sussan Arafa, Mahira Ali, Aliaa Elzenouki, and Salma Tarik.

At the second round of the first group, the Egyptian team scored a 1-0 victory over Zimbabwe. The goal was scored by Salma Tarik at 83 minutes. This marks the first time the Egyptian team has ever won a match in this competition. The last time Egypt competed they had lost all three group matches.

Egypt has taken second place in its group with three points, while Cameroon occupies first place with six points. South Africa is currently in third place, and Zimbabwe trails in fourth place.
