Six were killed and 24 were injured when a bus flipped over on Friday in Qena governorate following extensive flooding in the province due to heavy rainfall, reported the Ministry of Health. At least two of those killed were children.

The death toll is subject to increase.

Another bus, truck, and car were involved in the crash, which made it difficult for authorities to identify the passengers.

Rescue teams managed to rescue 11 people, according to Al-Youm Al-Sabea newspaper.

The floods blocked the road and hindered the flow of traffic as rain water accumulated in the streets.

Security forces tightened security measures in the area and imposed a state of emergency.

Last year, a number of deaths occurred due to poor weather conditions across Egypt. More than 20 people were killed in November 2015 due to heavy rainfall and flooding in Alexandria and Behiera.
