Egyptian Wael Ghonim launched a new social networking platform called Parlio.

Ghonim, who currently lives in the US, launched Parlio several weeks ago. The applications aims to facilitate instant discussions on an online public forum concerning current events,  the economy, politics, society, and technology.

Ghonim has added a special feature to his social platform, under the heading Q&A (questions and answers). Through this interface, users can ask questions to public figures and specialists they follow, and then wait for answers. However, no instant chat feature has been added to the platform.

Ghonim worked as regional marketing manager of Google Middle East and North Africa. He was the administrator of the Facebook page “We are all Khaled Saeed” during the 25 January Revolution.

Ghonim first foray online was when he launched his blog The Road to Peace in 1998. Afterwards, he established the company Gawab (letter) for email services. He then established Mubasher.info, a financial portal serving the Middle East region.
