NTRA conducts 31,600 tests on Internet surfing in Greater Cairo

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) issued a report on the quality of mobile Internet service in November 2015, ranking Mobinil as the best provider among the three mobile operators in Greater Cairo.

In the report, the NTRA tested 31,600 attempts to surf the Internet on the three mobile networks.

Mobinil had only three failed attempts to connect to the Internet from a total of 11,100 attempts. Vodafone was second, with four failed attempts out of a total 11,900 connections. Etisalat followed, with four failed attempts in 8,500 attempted connections.

In terms of mobile Internet speed, the NTRA report said Etisalat had the fastest performance in mobile Internet, with an average speed of 229 KB/sec in Greater Cairo. Mobinil came second, with an average speed of 143 KB/sec, followed by Vodafone with an average speed of 117 KB/sec. The three companies registered close speeds in surfing web pages at a rate of between 8.7 KB/Sec and 15.8 KB/sec.

As for the quality of watching videos online, the report ranked Mobinil first, as only four attempts were blocked out of a total of 5,500 attempts. Vodafone ranked second, with 14 blocked and six failed attempts of a total 5,500 attempts. Etisalat followed in third, with 4,200 attempts, of which 14 were blocked and four failed.
