The New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) received an offer from Al-Motaheda Company For Metal & Tubes to meet Benban investors’ water needs during the period of establishing their projects.

A NREA official said Al-Motaheda belongs to a businessman in Aswan and employs a large number of residents. He said the presented offer includes supplying water for projects through wells they own, noting that the company wishes to communicate with investors to lease the wells or sell water directly.

Al-Motaheda made an offer to Benban investors last month on the provision of water, security, and workers but the offer was postponed until considering other offers submitted. Investors are leaning towards the appointment of a consultant to identify the requirements for the projects.

Among the companies that submitted offers were Falcon, G4S, Enjaz Information Technology, Gridtech Infrastructure Company, and Al-Aalameya. These companies submitted offers to provide safety, recruiting, traffic, housing, and water and sewage services.

He said the authority will help investors in the next steps and procedures related to the provision of water, establishment of fences, expansion of the road leading projects, and the organisation of traffic.

The official said all proposals are being studied, whether the offer NREA received from Al-Motaheda or through signing protocols with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation to dig solar-powered water wells.

Solar energy companies hope to find a solution for the narrow roads leading to the site of solar energy projects in Benban and traffic control. They also aim for the provision of a plot of land to be allocated for parking trucks laden with equipment, especially as the upcoming period will witness a significant presence for companies during construction phase.

The official noted that NREA CEO Mohamed Salah El-Sobky will meet with investors next week to agree on the upcoming procedures and steps to work on the projects and assign the expansion of the road to a construction company operating in the Benban area.

According to the source, El-Sobky held intensive communications with the Aswan governorate to provide a plot of land next to the project site in Benban to allocate it as a parking area. This is considered a step to assist and support investors to complete their projects without hindrance.
