Daily News Egypt met with Thomas kirsch – Product manager BMW 7 series , for an up-close look at the new and most prominent features offered by the BMW 7 Series.

Can you give us more information about the new 7 Series model?

The new 7 Series is a car with which we would like to approach our customers and offer them the modern luxury of the BMW spirit. So, for us, the new 7 Series stands for great driving when it comes to dynamics, but also comfort level. With this car, we will be able to have a driving experience that satisfies all needs and demands at the same time.

What about the interface?

We offer a very advanced interface. Besides the “I drive” controller, we offer navigation touch display which is very easy to use and enables control over all car options, such as accepting a telephone call.

Additionally, a luxury ambience in the interior is also important to us. We offer different lighting options, a massage programme, fragrances so you can have different smells in the car, and also a unique panorama sky lounge on the roof so you can always have 15,000 light patterns emitting light in the interior and creating a very individual atmosphere for our customers.

Why manufacture a car fully out of carbon fibre?

We have a carbon fibre core structure in the body, and carbon fibre enables the new 7 Series to become much lighter, about 130 kg less weight in the car. This is suitable for light driving and for reduced CO2 emission at the same time.

Have the engines changed in the new 7 Series?

All engines of the new 7 Series are newly developed. Today, we offer the 740i, which has a six-cylinder petrol engine, the 750i with eight cylinders, and the 730 diesel engine. They are all absolutely newly developed with utmost efficiency. All engines operate with the CO2 system and a consumption level of 20 gm.

Are there palns to offer more developed versions of technology and electric driving?

As we announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show, we have a four-cylinder petrol engine combined with an electric engine, and in that model we offer an engine with the latest technology.

As for driver assistance, we offer a steering and lane system, and we have a camera detecting the lane marks and the car gives drivers steering assistance, so with just one hand you can drive very relaxed because the car gives you steering support while driving straight or while taking corners.
Also, we have the remote control parking. So, this enables you to exit the car before you enter a garage because you can slide the car automatically, remotely into the garage just with a display key.

Are there any plans to introduce a new 7 Series with fully automated driving?

Of course. There are plans in the future to work on fully automated driving, but this is something we will announce later at the appropriate time.
