Egyptian Minister of Foreign affairs Sameh Shoukry went to Rome Saturday to participate in the international conference that will discuss the Libyan crisis. The conference will be held on a ministerial level. Italy and the US called for it to force Libyan parties to establish a national unity government to overcome Libya’s current crisis.

Libya has been going through a chaos state for four years following the ousting of late Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi. Two different governments are disputing over ruling the country and each one is backed with armed supporters.

Although the UN is involved with the two governments to try and end the dispute, the international community is worried over the expansion of the Islamic state in Libya.

Earlier in December, Shoukry discussed with his US counterpart John Kerry efforts to form a government of national unity in Libya. They also agreed to continue consulting developments in the region and internationally.

At the Friends of Libya meeting in Algeria last week, Shoukry called for efforts to reach an agreement in Libya to be adopted by their parliament before the end of December.
