Egypt’s parliamentary elections will take place in October, and will be divided into two phases. The Supreme Electoral Commission (SEC) announced the parliament would be established before the end of the current year.

In a Sunday press conference, Judge Ayman Abbas, head of the SEC, announced the opening of candidates’ registration for twelve days starting Monday.

The first phase of the parliamentary elections will start on 17 October for a duration of three days, and the second phase elections will begin on 21 November, also planned for three days. Results should be announced in the first week of December and the parliament would be finalised by mid-December 2015.
