Around 440 facilities will start their operations in New Cairo by October 2015 as part of the Council of Economic Development’s plan to inaugurate 1,000 facilities, the presidency announced in an official statement.

The announcement came following President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s meeting with the council to discuss its latest activities and project developments.

The council presented its vision of establishing different industrial zones that will include clusters of small and medium industries that will be connected to major industries to ensure their sustainability. Those industries will include food and chemical industries as well as the ready-made-garments industry.

This implementation of the vision is expected to start in Qaliubiya governorate, and then repeated in other Egyptian provinces.

The council further presented an initial study on the process of collecting and sorting garbage, and disposing them in an economic way.
