Facilities works and roads for the 1,000 factories project in New Cairo are being finalised, announced Minister of Housing Mostafa Madbouly on Sunday.

Madbouly added that the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) represented by the New Cairo City Authority, removed all the obstacles facing small investors in the region.

Madbouly noted that facilities equipment is being transferred to another area of the industrial zone after work was completed in the 1,000 factories area, to implement the rest of the facilities needed by the end of October.

Head of New Cairo City Authority Alaa Abdel Aziz said that the authority is responsible for providing facilities and carrying out business services.

Abdel Aziz noted that the industrial zone is located on 1,046 acres; one-third of the area is allocated for the 1,000 factories. The rest of the region has 488 factories and its areas range between 800 to 1,000 metres in size. About 70% of the required facilities were implemented.

Abdel Aziz added that 339 factories were completed externally, construction works are being done in 446 factories, and that 64 factories were wholly completed, with 50 of them working under their operating licence.

Abdel Aziz noted that there are 69 dedicated lands that do not have any factories.

“EGP 14m is the cost of completion of the main roads and the first stages of the internal roads pavement,” said Abdel Aziz. “The authority completed all electricity works for the factories and accepted investors’ requests to connect the power supply in accordance with the specifications and legal requirements, as well as establishing two commercial market services”.

Abdel Aziz noted that the Minister of Housing directed the New Cairo City Authority to coordinate with the Ministry of Social Solidarity to resolve small industry investors’ problems and remove any obstacles they face.

It was agreed that the dues for for industrial buildings licences (insurance premium for licensing and contracting works) will be paid in instalments, with the condition of providing a letter of guarantee issued by one of the accredited banks with the value of installed amount.

Abdel Aziz said that the issue of land distance has been resolved through transferring construction work for New Cairo to the East Cairo Construction Office instead of the Helwan Construction Office. In addition, construction offices were directed to facilitate the procedures and remove obstacles.
