Six individuals were referred to a military court in the border city of Salloum on Sunday after the military prosecutor charged them with being present in a restricted  military zone.

The accused were referred to the Salloum military court; state-owned news agency  MENA reported that three of the six arrested were foreigners and the police director of Matrouh security received a notification of the arrest.

The accused were held at “Barani” police station before being presented to the military prosecutor. The individuals were attempting to illegally cross the border into Libya through a military zone.

Security forces of the Red Sea security directorate were also successful in detaining five individuals accused of looting and setting fire to the Beni Suef military prosecutor’s office. The detainees were residents of the city of Beni Suef and were armed during the police raid, according to MENA.
