A man fatally shot 15 people in Meet Al-Attar, a village near Banha on Tuesday Night. His body was found by police after the attacks.

A source within the Ministry of Interior (MOI) who preferred to remain anonymous said the alleged shooter Omar Abdelrazik started firing “randomly” in the area, killing several residents.

The MOI source also said that AbdelRazik was killed by residents who chased him down close to Meet Al-Attar, where police later found his body.

“Security forces established a checkpoint at Meet Al-Attar’s entrance Wednesday morning, and the situation is currently settled” said Hassan Al-Sayed, a member of the Dostour party in Banha.

Emad Mahna, officer at Banha’s police station has ordered the examination of bullet casings from the scene as well as collection of witness testimonies, according to state-run Al-Ahram.

Al-Ahram also reported that the victims’ families refused an autopsy of their bodies, and the prosecution allowed their request, since charges cannot be filed against Abdelrazik.
