Masked gunmen opened fire on Mar Mina Church in Port Said on Monday night. One of the assailants was reportedly detained by police following the attack that did not yield any serious casualties.

Investigations looking into the attack continued into Tuesday.

The incident comes only days after sectarian violence in Luxor left four Copts dead and 32 injured. Stores and houses belonging to Christians were burned in the villages of Nagaa Hasan and Dabaya before police intervened and dispersed the crowd.
