An explosion at a weapons storage facility in western Turkey killed 25 soldiers and injured four on Wednesday night. The depot in the province of Afyon, filled with hand grenades, burst into flames. The cause for the explosion was unknown, although Environment Minister Veysel Eroglu ruled out the possibilities of terrorism or sabotage. The blast is thought to have been caused whens soldiers were moving grenades within the facility.

Flames engulfed the weapons depot for several hours, while the military looked for undetonated grenades that were littered around the area, setting them off in controlled explosions.

Local residents living near the building were evacuated, and the Turkish government advised civilians to stay away from the area.

The four wounded soldiers were sent away to receive medical treatment, and their current condition is unknown.
