CAIRO: Algerian JS Kabylie chairman Mohand Cherif Hannachi offered his apologies to the Ahli delegation following an incident where the Egyptian team’s bus was attacked Saturday night.

The bus incident in Tizi Ouzou marred the friendly pre-match mood amid efforts from Algeria and Egypt to clear the air ahead of the crucial Champions League clash.

While Ahli have played down the incident, Kabylie chief Hannachi condemned the attack which he believes was some schoolboy stuff.

"It was an individual act from an irresponsible kid. But the situation was contained and the teenager was arrested," he told Echoroukonline.

"The safety of our visitors is a priority for us. We do not accept any harm against them.

"In the name of all Algerians, I apologize for the incident and I promise that our Egyptian brothers will be fully protected."

Ahli, looking to dethrone Kabylie from the summit of Group B in the Sunday night match, received an exceptional welcome upon arriving in Tizi Ouzou at the weekend.

Meanwhile, Ahli chairman Hassan Hamdi denied that the club intends to file a complaint to the CAF about the bus attack.
