CAIRO: Reports in Holland suggest that Mido, along with Moroccan hitman Mounir El Hamdaoui, is set to join his former club from Middlesbrough.

Former Tottenham boss Jol, who signed Mido from Roma five seasons ago, implied that both deals are in place.

"Mounir is what we needed. I worked with him at Tottenham. He is able to make this Ajax team better," the Dutch coach told AD Sportwereld.

"Mido is a great guy to have here. We had no options up front, but now we have two.”
Mido had a couple of fine seasons at Amsterdam Arena between 2001 and 2003 before joining a host of clubs in Europe after that.

The 27-year-old enjoyed one of his best spells under Jol’s management at Tottenham, but his progress was hampered by injury and fitness problems.
