An official at the Egyptian Railway Authority (ERA) announced the launching of a ten-year plan for a development project worth LE 40 billion in the period 2011-2020, reported Al-Mal newspaper.
The official did not identify how the plan will be financed. The project includes developing new lines to connect with existing stations. Most of the rail system is focused on the Nile delta with lines essentially fanning out from Cairo.
