CAIRO: Zamalek have fined defender Amr Al-Safti LE 25,000 for receiving a red card in Wednesday s 1-0 home defeat to Ghazl Mahalla in the Egyptian Premier League.

The tough-tackling defender was sent off eight minutes past the hour mark for a second bookable offense as ailing giants Zamalek slumped to their fourth defeat in nine league games.

Al-Safti, who joined Zamalek in the summer of 2006 from Masri, is not a regular starter but he earned a place in the starting line-up after fellow central defender Mahmoud Fathallah dislocated his shoulder in August.

The 27-year-old said recently he would not extend his contract that will expire at the end of the season.

I have received several offers from Egyptian top-flight sides, and I will probably accept one of them, he told FilGoal.com earlier this month.
