CAIRO: Ahly midfielder Mohamed Barakat has been ruled out of the Cairo derby against Zamalek on April 23, while Ahmed Hassan is set to participate in the anticipated clash.

According to Ahly s official website, Barakat is suffering a hamstring tear and won t be able to make his comeback until he fully recuperates.

The 30-year-old is undergoing a recovery program, and is expected to get back in action in May.

We need to make sure that Barakat reaches full recovery before giving him the thumb up to return. His energetic playing style makes us cautious, medical staff chief Ihab Ali said.

On the other hand, Egypt skipper Ahmed Hassan will be able to feature for Ahly against their arch-rivals Zamalek.

The former Anderlecht star will soon finish his rehabilitation program, and should shrug off his ankle injury before the Zamalek encounter.

Both international midfielders missed the Cairo giants trip to Nigeria s Kano Pillars in the African Champions League round of 16.
