CAIRO: On Monday, Egypt and the entire region were rocked by the triple bombings that struck Dahab in the Sinai and claimed the lives of 24 people, while injuring dozens of others. The following day, two suicide bombers attacked again in the North Sinai, although the second day of attacks resulted in no deaths other than those of the bombers themselves.

The Daily Star Egypt took to the streets to better understand how Cairo’s citizens have viewed the bombings.

I can t help suspecting that Israel is behind the bombings. They are mad since we regained Sinai and it is the second bombing to take place on its anniversary. Mohamed, student

I still can t believe what happened. Why should people kill other people who did nothing but plan to enjoy their vacation? Who was behind the bombings? And who will benefit from it? I don t know, but I really hope that they will be caught soon. Amani, housewife

It is an inside job and I am sure that Egyptians are the ones who did it. But the question is who funded them and who supplied them with equipment? It is easy to brainwash young people using religious slogans and convince them to do anything, even suicide attacks. But what is difficult is planning and financing supplies. Magdy, retired officer

It’s normal, what is the problem? A few days later we will find out that the attackers were another group of mentally handicapped individuals. We have enough “mentally handicapped people for any crime or attack on Egypt.Al Sayed, civil servant.

It must be an Islamic militia; it is their method of bombing. I think the attackers have a link with Al Taefa Al Mansoura (the Victorious Group), who were arrested last week. They must be taking revenge for what happened to their partners. It may also be an attack to target tourism to exert pressure on the Egyptian government by reducing its income from tourism.Sarah, pharmacist

Where are the security forces? Instead of bothering us everywhere in traffic, police stations and even in universities, they should concentrate on their real work. Where is the intelligence? There must always be some information about such bombings a short time before they take place. I believe that such bombings are caused by slack security.Amr, restaurant manager

I believe that if Israel wasn t behind it, it at least has some information about it. Many signs prove that, such as the fact that they offered help by ambulances and hospitals very quickly. Samah, civil servant
