Cancer is the leading cause of death around the world, according to a report published by the British Organisation of Cancer in 2012. Death from cancer amounts to about 13% of total deaths per year; an average of 4.2 million men die from cancer and 3.4 million women.

Around 500,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer die worldwide, according to a report by the World Health Organization, which means that the vast majority of patients do not die. In the US there the cure rate can reach up to 85%, while in Egypt the cure rate reached up to 60% of cases.

In general, the rates of recovery in the US, Canada and Europe are rising rapidly as death rates do not exceed 15% in those countries.

The Middle East witnesses lower rates of recovery from breast cancer in the world as it is the worst region in terms of recovery rates.

The number of deaths from cancer worldwide is expected to rise to an estimated 13.1 million deaths in 2030.
