The Cairo-based club will meet Congolese Leopards on Sunday

Cairo-based Zamalek club will fly on Thursday to Congo for the CAF Champions’ League match with Congolese AC Leopards on Sunday.

The Club held its last training session on Wednesday afternoon to give the players a chance to have some family time before their flight scheduled early on Thursday.

Osama Nabih, Zamalek’s coach said on Tuesday that the team was struggling because they only had 18 players available; several Zamalek players are injured and two players, Nour Al-Sayed and Salah Suleiman were suspended earlier.

Nabih hoped players won’t suffer any injuries or exhaustion before the match which could affect their teams negatively, according to Zamalek’s official website.

Zamalek’s captain and goalkeeper Abdel Wahed Al-Sayed expressed worry about the match.   He said the AC Leopards were playing at home and among their fans which represents a challenge to Zamalek players. He added that his team should be well prepared to meet such a respectable opponent like the Congolese Leopards.

Zamalek is in Group A which features all-time rival and defending champion Cairo-based Al-Ahly, South African Orlando Pirates and AC Leopards. All four teams now have one point, as both Zamalek and Leopards will be hunting their first three points in the Group.
