A group of activists will stick posters they designed in the metro Friday morning which read “the women’s carriage is for women only.” Activist Shereen Badr who is part of the group explained that this is just an initiative by a group of people.
She made calls on Facebook for 40 people to volunteer to join the group and help them stick the posters up inside and outside the women’s carriage. Thus far she said, 20 people have already signed up for the task which is aimed to protect women from harassment and theft. Although every train on the metro has women only carriages, men often violate the rules and ride them.
