The 29th edition of Ecomondo will take place from 3 to 6 November at the Rimini Expo Centre, bringing together international businesses, policymakers, innovators, and sustainability experts to advance the green, blue, and circular economy.

The 29th edition of Ecomondo, the international exhibition dedicated to the green, blue, and circular economy, will take place from 3 to 6 November 2026 at the Rimini Expo Centre in Italy, with a renewed focus on ecological transition, sustainable innovation, and international cooperation.

Organised by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), the four-day event will provide a platform for established companies, start-ups, scale-ups, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) seeking to expand their presence in markets linked to environmental sustainability and the circular economy.

The 2026 edition will place particular emphasis on international partnerships, European environmental regulations, artificial intelligence, digitalisation, and emerging technologies supporting the transition towards more sustainable economic models.

Ecomondo 2026 expands international reach

Ecomondo aims to strengthen its international presence through cooperation with Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), which supports the internationalisation of Italian businesses.

The collaboration is expected to help attract international delegations, trade associations, institutional representatives, and buyers from markets across the world, reinforcing Ecomondo’s position as a meeting point for companies and organisations operating in the environmental sector.

As part of its international expansion strategy, Ecomondo is developing a global roadshow covering several countries, including Spain, Morocco, Germany, Hungary, and Canada.

These activities complement existing international initiatives, including Ecomondo Mexico, Ecomondo China, which evolved into a forum held in Shanghai on 11 and 12 June, and the Green Med Expo & Symposium, held in Naples at the end of May.

The internationalisation strategy also reflects growing opportunities for cross-border investment, technology exchange, and cooperation in environmental solutions, particularly between Europe, the Mediterranean region, and Africa.

European environmental regulations take centre stage

The Ecomondo International Technical Scientific Committee has developed a conference programme addressing key regulatory, technological, and economic challenges associated with the ecological transition.

European environmental legislation and its implications for industries will feature prominently in discussions, alongside the growing role of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in improving resource efficiency and environmental management.

The programme will also explore the development of healthy and circular cities, bioeconomy, bioenergy, and opportunities for international cooperation in sustainable development.

Particular attention will be given to strengthening partnerships with Mediterranean and African countries, reflecting the importance of regional collaboration in addressing environmental challenges and supporting sustainable economic growth.

During the first two days of Ecomondo 2026, the States General of the Green Economy will return, bringing together representatives from institutions, businesses, and the environmental sector.

The initiative is organised by the Foundation for Sustainable Development in collaboration with Italy’s Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) and promoted by the National Council of the Green Economy.

This year’s programme will also include a second plenary session conducted entirely in English, supporting broader participation from international stakeholders.

Textile industry gains dedicated exhibition space

One of the most significant developments at Ecomondo 2026 will be the introduction of an entire exhibition hall dedicated to the textile sector.

The new space reflects the transformation underway in the industry as European Union sustainability regulations and circular economy policies increasingly influence production processes, resource management, and waste reduction.

The dedicated exhibition area will provide an opportunity to showcase solutions supporting more sustainable textile production, material recovery, and circular business models.

The initiative also highlights the growing importance of integrating environmental considerations into industrial supply chains and developing technologies that support more efficient use of resources.

Waste management and water technologies receive expanded focus

The exhibition will also feature an expanded area dedicated to Waste as Resource, reflecting the increasing importance of waste recovery, recycling, and resource efficiency in circular economy strategies.

Meanwhile, the Water Cycle & Blue Economy exhibition area will undergo a reorganisation to provide greater visibility to technologies and solutions addressing water management challenges.

Key topics will include wastewater treatment and reuse, advanced monitoring systems for water networks, and innovative infrastructure technologies designed to improve operational efficiency.

The programme will also feature No-Dig technologies within the Trenchless District, developed in partnership with the Italian Association for Trenchless Technologies (IATT).

These technologies support the installation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of underground infrastructure while reducing the need for extensive excavation and limiting disruption to surrounding environments.

Smart monitoring solutions for water distribution networks will also be highlighted, reflecting the growing role of digital technologies in improving water resource management.

Innovation, bioeconomy, and sustainable cities

Ecomondo 2026 will maintain its established exhibition sectors covering Sites & Soil Restoration, Earth Observation and Environmental Monitoring, Bio-energy & Agriculture, and Circular & Regenerative Bio-Economy.

These areas will present technologies and approaches aimed at addressing environmental challenges, improving resource management, and supporting the development of more sustainable industrial and agricultural systems.

The Circular & Healthy City district will also return, focusing on solutions that contribute to sustainable urban development, environmental quality, and improved resource efficiency.

A dedicated focus on the paper sector will further examine its role within circular economy systems.

Meanwhile, the Innovation District will provide a platform for start-ups, emerging technologies, and initiatives supporting the development of sustainability-related skills.

By connecting innovators with established businesses and industry stakeholders, the district aims to encourage technological development and create opportunities for collaboration in environmental markets.

Supporting the transition to a circular economy

With its expanded exhibition layout, international engagement strategy, and conference programme, Ecomondo 2026 aims to reinforce its role as a platform for businesses and institutions working towards more sustainable economic models.

The event will bring together environmental technologies, regulatory discussions, industrial innovation, and business networking opportunities at a time when sustainability requirements are increasingly shaping investment and operational decisions across industries.

From waste recovery and water management to sustainable textiles, renewable resources, and digital environmental monitoring, the exhibition will highlight the range of technologies and solutions contributing to the ecological transition.

The 29th edition of Ecomondo will run from 3 to 6 November 2026 at the Rimini Expo Centre in Italy.
