Minister of State for Military Production Salah Gomblat received Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid to discuss mechanisms for strengthening cooperation between the two ministries, with a focus on leveraging the capabilities of military production companies and units to attract investment, expand local manufacturing and support Egypt’s comprehensive and sustainable development.
The meeting was attended by Mohamed Awad, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), along with senior officials from both ministries. It forms part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen coordination among state institutions in support of investment, industrial development and economic growth.
Farid said the meeting reflects the state’s commitment to enhancing cooperation among government entities in a way that supports industrial development, creates a more attractive environment for domestic and foreign investment, stimulates economic growth and generates employment opportunities.
He stressed the importance of maximising the use of Egypt’s Investment Map as a key platform for promoting investment opportunities, particularly industrial projects that could be implemented in partnership with military production companies and units. He added that the platform should be updated regularly and presented professionally to investors to support the localisation of advanced industries and increase local content.
For his part, Gomblat reviewed the Ministry of Military Production’s core activities, highlighting the advanced manufacturing, technological and technical capabilities of its affiliated companies and production units. He said the ministry has built a strong national industrial base and accumulated extensive expertise, enabling it to fulfil its primary role of meeting the needs of the Armed Forces and the police while utilising surplus production capacity to manufacture high-quality civilian products and contribute to national development projects.
He added that the ministry’s strategy focuses on strengthening partnerships with government institutions and the private sector to attract new investment, localise advanced manufacturing technologies, increase local content and support the national economy.
Gomblat noted that the current stage requires greater integration among state institutions and productive sectors to achieve sustainable development and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian industry, in line with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s directives to build a strong national economy driven by production, competitiveness, innovation and sustainable growth.
The two ministers agreed to maintain close coordination in developing executive mechanisms to implement the areas of cooperation discussed during the meeting, with the aim of maximising the utilisation of Egypt’s industrial capabilities, strengthening the country’s investment attraction efforts, enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and advancing sustainable development.
