New Era Education has announced the launch of Uppingham New Cairo, a new British international school set to open in 2028 within the New Kairo development by G Developments in East Cairo.
The project marks the second partnership between New Era Education and Uppingham School UK, following the launch of Uppingham Cairo in New Giza. The expansion reflects growing demand for premium British education in Egypt and forms part of New Era Education’s broader strategy to expand high-quality schooling across the capital.
The new campus will cover more than 60,000 square meters and is designed as a purpose-built British independent school featuring advanced academic facilities, sports infrastructure, and boarding options. Admissions are expected to begin in 2027, ahead of the planned opening in 2028.
The announcement was marked by a signing and groundbreaking ceremony held at New Kairo, attended by members of the New Era Education board, executives from New Giza and G Developments, and representatives from Uppingham School UK. Officials from the British Embassy in Cairo and the British Council in Egypt were also present, highlighting the strong educational ties between Egypt and the United Kingdom.
Dr. Tamer Tammam, Founder and Chairman of New Era Education, said the new campus represents a major milestone in the company’s mission to bring leading British education models to Egypt.
“Our vision has always been to bring the finest British education to Egypt, and Uppingham New Cairo represents a major step forward in that journey,” Tammam said. “Following the success of Uppingham Cairo, we are delighted to expand to the eastern side of the capital and provide more students with access to a world-class educational experience that blends heritage, innovation, and academic excellence.”
Khadiga ElGammal, Vice Chairman of New Giza Developments and G Developments, said the project strengthens the partnership between the two organizations and reinforces the role of education in building sustainable communities.
“Education lies at the heart of thriving communities,” ElGammal said. “Through our continued partnership with New Era Education, we aim to provide an environment that supports future generations and sets new benchmarks for academic excellence.”
Meanwhile, Barbara Matthews, Chair of Trustees of Uppingham School UK, said the expansion reflects the success of the existing campus in Cairo and the institution’s commitment to delivering high-quality British education internationally.
“The success of Uppingham Cairo has been exceptional,” Matthews said. “We are excited to begin this new chapter with Uppingham New Cairo and look forward to supporting New Era Education in bringing Uppingham’s traditions and academic excellence to even more students in Egypt.”
Located within the New Kairo development, the new campus aims to provide a holistic learning environment that combines rigorous academics with a strong focus on character development, leadership, and creativity.
New Era Education said the project reflects its long-term vision to expand access to international-standard education in Egypt and prepare students for an increasingly global future.
