CBE Governor, Planning Minister review coordination of monetary, economic policies

Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), has met with Ahmed Rostom, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, to discuss strengthening coordination between monetary and economic policies in support of macroeconomic stability and national development objectives.

Discussions focused on recent developments in key economic performance indicators amid the economic reform programme being implemented by the Egyptian state. The two sides also reviewed frameworks for enhancing coordination between monetary and fiscal-economic policies to ensure policy coherence and effectiveness.

The meeting further addressed the government’s ongoing efforts to implement the sustainable development strategy, including Egypt Vision 2030, with the aim of accelerating growth rates and generating sustainable employment opportunities.

Both sides underscored the importance of sustained coordination between the CBE and the Ministry of Planning to maintain a careful balance between monetary stability and economic expansion. They stressed that effective policy alignment is essential to supporting development projects, stimulating investment, creating durable jobs and ultimately achieving balanced and sustainable economic growth.

The meeting was attended by Rami Aboul Naga and Tarek El-Khouly, deputy governors of the CBE. Representing the Ministry of Planning were Ahmed Ashour, Head of the National Accounts Unit; Heba Youssef, Director of the Country Programme Unit; and Mohamed El-Gali, Media Adviser.
