Iran has inaugurated its largest solar energy project with the launch of the 120-megawatt first phase of the Eastern Sun Solar Power Plant in Isfahan province, a development with a total investment of $330 million, as reported by Pars Today, a partner of TV BRICS.

The project was officially opened by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in the presence of senior ministers and provincial officials.

Located 10 kilometres west of Kuhpayeh, the plant occupies 1,200 hectares and benefits from the region’s dry climate and high solar radiation. The facility is situated near State Road 62 and the historic Haj Hassan Caravanserai.

The Eastern Sun project is planned to expand to 600 megawatts by March 2027, with the remaining capacity to be added in phases over the subsequent 18 months.

The development is expected to create hundreds of jobs and strengthen the economy of one of Iran’s key industrial regions.
