Egypt, Algeria discuss developments in Libya, GERD

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry held a phone call, on Saturday, with his Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra to discuss developments in Libya and relating to the Ethiopian dam.

Shoukry also took the opportunity to congratulate Lamamra on the occasion of his recent assumption to the position of minister

Ahmed Hafez, Spokesperson for Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Shoukry expressed his aspiration to continue the pace of coordination and consultation between the two countries.

This includes pushing forward on bilateral relations in their various frameworks, to serve the interests of the two countries, and meet the aspirations of their peoples.

The two ministers agreed on the need for concerted efforts in giving priority to peaceful solutions to Arab issues, in a manner that preserves the region’s unity and the independence of their territories.

They stressed the need for Arab countries to avoid any interactions that do not take into account their interests and the rights of their peoples to stability and development.
