Egypt’s unemployment increases to 7.8% in 3Q 2019: CAPMAS

Egypt’s unemployment rate reached 7.8% in third quarter (Q3) of 2019, compared to 0.3% increase to 7.5% in Q2  and a decrease of 2.2% compared to Q3 of 2018, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The labour force estimated at 28.4 million person in Q3 compared to 28.1 million people in the previous quarter, an increase of 1.2%. The urban labor force reached 12.4 million individuals and the labour force in rural areas reached 16 million individuals.
Meanwhile, the number of individuals that are unemployed has reached 2.212 million  (1.1 million males, 1.1 million females), an increase of 118,000 unemployed compared to Q2 2019 by 5.6%, and a decrease of 708,000 unemployed compared to the same quarter of the previous year by 24.2%.
