CAIRO: Ismaili are prepared to rely on their youth in response to the strike of the first-team players over unpaid wages.

The Ismaili first-team training was cancelled on Tuesday after the majority of players refused to go onto the pitch, claiming that the club s board owes them wages of the last four months.

However, the unhappy players didn’t get the response they were expecting from their employers, who are willing to go for plan B.

After an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday, we have decided to turn to youngsters in case the players stayed firm on their stance, spokesman Alaa Wahid told FilGoal.com.

Absent players will be disciplined and we have notified the manager (Emad Soliman) to promote players from the youth team.

The players have no right to protest because there are no late wages. The wages of last month were paid in full.

The only earnings delayed were the winning bonuses of two matches (Ittihad and Ghazl Mahalla). The bonuses were suspended until the team performs better in the league.

Ismaili, who finished second last season after a playoff defeat to champions Ahly, have recently slipped to fourth place in the Egyptian Premier League table.
