CAIRO: Three Egyptian teenage boys were killed by an unexploded landmine from one of Egypt s wars with Israel in the Sinai peninsula on Wednesday, a security official said.

The three, all aged 13, were killed in the town of Fayed after they left school for the day, found the mine and began playing with it. It detonated, killing all three on the spot.

Egypt is one of the most heavily mined countries in the world, with millions of Egyptian and Israeli munitions in the Sinai adding to millions more mines laid in the Western Desert near the Mediterranean coast during World War II. -AFP
