CAIRO: Performed over 150 times in 25 countries across the globe and winning several awards, The Summit performed by Ralf Ralf is a smart theatrical piece of political satire that portrays the current divided political landscape and international community in an accurate and amusing way.

The piece acts out a summit meeting between two politicians who don’t speak the same language. Through invented languages, gestures and songs the two characters debate and criticize each other’s political agenda while struggling to understand one another at the same time.

The Summit was originally created during the Reagan-Gorbachev summits of the late 1980s and has shed light on numerous local political situations in the past such as the East-West Germany divide and former American election debates. Considering today’s tensions in the international community, the piece is as timely and relevant as ever.

The duo, Ralf Ralf, consists of Jonathan and Barnaby Stone who have worked together as Ralf Ralf since the 1980s, presenting their work at renowned venues such as The Royal Court Theatre, The Institute of Contemporary Arts and The Traverse Theatre.

Presented by The British Council, The Summit is a participant in the 18th Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre.
