Chairperson of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) Mohamed Abu Bakr met with Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem to discuss ways to maximize the use of the organization’s advanced manufacturing capabilities in support of local manufacturing and technology localisation.
The meeting comes as part of Egypt’s efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Strategy 2030 and maximize the utilization of available manufacturing and production capacities across civilian industrial sectors.
The cooperation aims to deepen local manufacturing, localize advanced technologies, meet domestic market needs, increase the added value of national industries, reduce imports, and boost exports.
Discussions focused on the AOI’s extensive manufacturing capabilities and its role as one of Egypt’s key industrial backbones. The organization possesses significant expertise across a wide range of defense and civilian industries and plays an important role in designing and manufacturing products and components that are currently imported, while meeting the quality requirements of various industrial sectors.
Abu Bakr expressed the AOI’s readiness to strengthen constructive cooperation with the Ministry of Industry through joint projects, stressing the importance of swiftly implementing President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s directives to accelerate industrial plans and targeted projects in line with the state’s strategy to deepen local manufacturing and localize technology.
For his part, Minister Hashem said that the Arab Organization for Industrialization is one of Egypt’s longstanding industrial institutions and a strategic pillar in achieving the country’s objectives for local manufacturing and technology localisation.
He noted that the AOI possesses advanced engineering capabilities and modern production lines capable of adapting to the latest global industrial developments, making it a key partner for the Ministry of Industry in implementing its plans and achieving comprehensive and sustainable development goals.
The minister added that closer cooperation with the AOI could open promising opportunities to connect scientific research with industrial applications, strengthen partnerships with the private sector, and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian products in regional and international markets.
