Seven Egyptian investors have signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to secure industrial land for new manufacturing facilities at Elsewedy Industrial City in Tanzania, on the sidelines of the presidential summit between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
The agreements were signed during the Egyptian-Tanzanian Business and Investment Forum, highlighting the growing economic partnership between the two countries and Egypt’s broader strategy to deepen trade and investment ties across Africa.
The MoUs were exchanged with Ahmed Elsewedy, President and CEO of Elsewedy Electric, and Mohamed El Qammah, CEO of Elsewedy Industrial Development, in the presence of several Egyptian ministers, including Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, and Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade.
The planned projects are expected to channel significant Egyptian investment into Tanzania while expanding Egypt’s industrial footprint in East Africa. The new factories will operate across strategic sectors, including pharmaceuticals, engineering industries and food manufacturing.
The agreements mark another milestone in Elsewedy Industrial Development’s strategy to replicate Egypt’s industrial development model across the African continent. The company has established itself as one of the region’s leading industrial developers by creating fully integrated industrial cities designed to attract both domestic and foreign investment.
As the master developer of Elsewedy Industrial City in Tanzania, the company has transferred its expertise in developing and managing industrial zones to the East African market, creating a fully integrated industrial and logistics ecosystem that provides investors with ready-to-operate infrastructure and long-term operational support.
Elsewedy Industrial Development currently manages one of the region’s largest and most diversified private industrial land portfolios, spanning more than 60 million square metres across strategic industrial locations in Egypt, including 10th of Ramadan City, Sadat City, 6th of October City and the Ain Sokhna Industrial Zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
Its expansion into Tanzania adds a 2.6 million-square-metre industrial city strategically positioned to serve as a manufacturing and export hub, connecting investors to markets across East and Central Africa while strengthening regional supply chains.
The company’s development model focuses on building integrated and sustainable industrial cities equipped with world-class infrastructure, including electricity, water, natural gas, telecommunications networks and modern road systems. Beyond infrastructure, Elsewedy Industrial Development provides a comprehensive range of long-term services, including facility management, maintenance, security, waste management and logistics, enabling manufacturers to focus on production while operating in professionally managed industrial environments.
The latest investment agreements reflect the commitment of both Egypt and Tanzania to deepen bilateral economic cooperation and encourage greater private-sector participation in Africa’s industrial development, while creating new opportunities for Egyptian manufacturers to expand into fast-growing African markets.
