Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have stressed the need for all parties to commit to a Gaza ceasefire and implement the “Trump” peace plan, the Egyptian presidency said on Monday.
During a meeting in Jeddah, the two leaders called for an increase in humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip without obstacles and the rapid commencement of early recovery and reconstruction efforts. They further emphasised their rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land, stating that a comprehensive political process leading to a two-state solution remains the only path to a resolution.
The discussions, held during Al-Sisi’s visit to the kingdom, also covered regional and international developments. Both sides highlighted the importance of avoiding escalation and tension in the region while supporting peaceful solutions through dialogue. They underscored the necessity of Arab solidarity to face challenges, alongside respect for state sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs.
According to a spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, Al-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the hospitality received and conveyed his greetings to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. He also congratulated the Crown Prince on Saudi Arabia’s Founding Day.
The meeting included a closed bilateral session followed by a Ramadan Iftar banquet hosted by the Crown Prince in honour of the Egyptian president and his delegation.
On the bilateral front, Al-Sisi noted the significant development of relations between Cairo and Riyadh, stressing the importance of pushing cooperation across various fields. The Crown Prince welcomed the visit, describing the relationship between the two nations as “pivotal” and expressing a desire to enhance ties to serve the interests of both peoples.
The leaders concluded the meeting by agreeing to continue and strengthen political consultation and coordination to maintain regional stability. The Crown Prince later accompanied Sisi to King Abdulaziz International Airport for his departure.
