The Egyptian Golf Federation (EGF) has appointed British expert Stuart Clayton as technical director for national teams and head of game development programmes, the federation announced.
Clayton will oversee the design and implementation of a national pathway for golf development, focusing on talent scouting, coach qualification, standardising performance systems, and integrating technology and performance data into national programmes.
Ahmed El-Shalkamy, Head of National Teams, said the appointment reflects the federation’s ambition to place Egypt among leading nations in golf development, adding that Clayton’s experience would have a tangible impact on building a world-class competitive system.
A member of the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA), Clayton brings over 25 years of international experience in elite training and player pathways. His previous roles include Head of Performance and Coaching at Scottish Golf, Coach Educator at the IMG Academy in Florida, and Head of Education at the global Golfzon Leadbetter Academy.
He has also served as a consultant for the R&A in several African countries.
Clayton is a PGA Fellow Professional and a certified Leadbetter Master Coach. In 2020, he was named among the top 75 international coaches by Golf Digest.
The Egyptian Golf Federation, headed by Omar Hisham Talaat, stated the appointment aims to elevate technical performance and establish a sustainable development ecosystem. The move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen cooperation with international bodies and entrench a high-performance culture across players, coaches, and clubs.
