The Executive Council meetings of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) commenced today in Sharm El-Sheikh. The meetings, attended by heads and representatives of member Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) on the Executive Council, are a precursor to the 25th International Congress of Supreme Audit Institutions (INCOSAI 25), which will be held under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and hosted by the Accountability State Authority (ASA).

The Executive Council meetings are chaired by Vítor Dourado, President of the Supreme Audit Institution of Brazil. Participants include Counsellor Mohamed El-Faisal Youssef, President of the Egyptian ASA (INTOSAI First Vice-President), Hossam Al-Anqari, President of the General Auditing Bureau of Saudi Arabia (INTOSAI Second Vice-President), and Margit Kraker, President of the Austrian Court of Audit and INTOSAI Secretary General.

Discussions during the meetings will focus on reviewing and presenting decisions and recommendations to be ratified at INCOSAI 25. These discussions aim to enhance institutional integration and unify professional approaches within the international audit community. The meetings also seek to ensure sound strategic leadership, guarantee the continuity of work, and consolidate professional initiatives. Additionally, periodic reports from INTOSAI entities, including the Strategic Goals Committees, the General Secretariat, the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), the International Journal of Government Auditing (IJGA), and regional organisations, will be discussed.

This Executive Council meeting is being held prior to the official opening of the 25th International Congress of Supreme Audit Institutions (INCOSAI 2025), scheduled for October 29 in Sharm El-Sheikh. The congress is expected to see broad participation from leaders and members of SAIs from various member states.

INCOSAI serves as the supreme decision-making body within INTOSAI and convenes every three years, bringing together SAIs from around the world. The Congress is considered a global platform for discussing priority technical issues in the fields of financial control and public accounting.

Egypt, represented by the ASA, is scheduled to assume the presidency of INTOSAI during the opening ceremonies of INCOSAI 25.
