The Egyptian Amateur Open Golf Championship 2025 has concluded with praise for the Egyptian Golf Federation’s successful organisation of the event, which saw record participation from 19 countries.

The tournament, one of the oldest in the region with a history spanning over 105 years, was held at the Dreamland Golf Club and featured three days of strong competition.

“The tournament confirmed the Egyptian federation’s ability to organise a sporting event of international standards, providing all necessary facilities to ensure its success, from courses prepared to the highest international standards to precise and professional organisation that received wide praise from participating delegations and players,” the federation said in a statement.

Qatari prodigy Daniel Sokolov, 14, was crowned champion, becoming the youngest player in the Egyptian Amateur Open history to lift the trophy. He finished with a score of nine-under-par, with a total of 207 strokes. Sokolov received the cup from Omar Hisham Talaat, president of the Egyptian Golf Federation.

In the inaugural seniors’ category, Egyptian player Amr Abou El-Ela won the title after a strong competition with Ghassan Kabbani and Costa Marmaras.

For the first time in its history, the championship awarded prize money to the top five finishers, an initiative reflecting the federation’s commitment to developing the competition and motivating players.

Participants expressed their admiration for the level of organisation and hospitality, stating that the current edition was one of the most successful in the tournament’s history.

The championship concluded with a closing ceremony featuring artistic and entertainment segments.
