US Ambassador to Egypt Herro Mustafa Garg hosted a special reception at the US Embassy in Cairo to honour the top-performing Thanawaya Amma students of 2025. The event brought together distinguished guests including former Foreign Minister Mohamed El-Orabi, representatives of leading US companies, and alumni of American exchange programmes.
In her remarks, Ambassador Garg praised the students’ achievements, highlighting their potential as future leaders of Egypt. “Egypt’s youth are the innovators and leaders who will shape the nation’s future. The United States is proud to partner with Egypt in advancing education and building opportunities that strengthen the bonds between our two countries,” she said.
This year marks the second annual celebration of Egypt’s top Thanawaya Amma scorers hosted by the US Embassy, underscoring Washington’s ongoing commitment to supporting educational excellence and fostering people-to-people ties.
As part of the recognition, Ambassador Garg announced the launch of a year-long training programme worth more than $50,000. The initiative will provide English language instruction and workforce skills development, helping high-achieving students prepare for professional careers, including opportunities with US companies operating in Egypt.
Representatives from major firms such as Apache, IBM, and General Motors attended the event, offering insights into career pathways and affirming their dedication to cultivating Egyptian talent. Alumni of US exchange programmes also shared their professional journeys, encouraging students to pursue opportunities that link academic achievement with practical career development.
