On 8 March, International Women’s Day, Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, offered free public transportation to women for the first time. Women also enjoyed free admission to various cultural events.

About 15,000 women who work in social sectors received tickets to attend different shows and exhibitions. Women who were disabled or displaced by the war in Artsakh got more than a thousand tickets to watch the ballet ‘Gayaneh’ at the National Academy Opera and Ballet Theater.

International Women’s Day is a global occasion to celebrate women’s achievements and raise awareness of women’s issues. Many cities around the world hold marches, rallies, and protests, and decorate the streets with purple, the color of women’s rights.
