President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi received, on Tuesday, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Cairo Mariam Al Kaabi, in the presence of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

Ahmed Fahmy, the Presidential Spokesperson, said that during the meeting, the President received a written message from Sheik Mohamed Bin Zayed, the President of the UAE, inviting President Al-Sisi to participate in the COP28 Climate Summit, which is scheduled to be held in Dubai next December.

The message affirmed the UAE’s keenness to strengthen joint cooperation between the two countries and to benefit from the Egyptian experience in this regard, especially in light of Egypt’s success in hosting the previous COP27 summit in Sharm El-Sheik in a way that won the world’s appreciation, as well as the positive results achieved by the Egyptian presidency of the summit in the international climate action.

On his part; Al-Sisi expressed Egypt’s confidence in the UAE’s leadership of the upcoming climate summit in light of the UAE’s proven capabilities.

He also stressed the mutual keenness to enhance cooperation and transfer of Egyptian expertise in this regard, especially in light of the specificity of the Egyptian-UAE relations, in order to ensure that the summit produces positive results in support of the international climate in all its components, as well as taking into account the relevant concerns of developing and African countries.

Meanwhile, President Al-Sisi received, on Tuesday, Akinumi Adesina, chairman of the African Development Bank Group, and his accompanying delegation.

The Presidential Spokesperson said that President Al-Sisi welcomed the development of co-operation between Egypt and the African Development Bank, expressing his appreciation for the Bank’s role in supporting development sectors on the African continent, especially in light of the growing economic challenges at the international level.

The President also stressed Egypt’s aspiration to continue and increase the volume of cooperation with the Bank in the coming period in various fields, within the framework of the objectives of the Common Country Strategy between the two sides.

For his part, the President of the African Development Bank praised the Egyptian development experience over the past few years, describing it as a great source of inspiration for African peoples across the continent,

He added that the Egyptian people and its political leadership have demonstrated an outstanding ability to rise rapidly and achieve many important achievements,

In this context, the achievements in many development sectors, in particular electricity, water treatment and reuse, and the development of unplanned residential areas, were valued as examples and illuminating examples of development progress benefiting large segments of the population.

The President of the African Development Bank Group expressed his pleasure at Egypt’s hosting of the Bank Group’s annual meetings in Sharm El-Sheikh this May, noting that they will focus on discussing ways to encourage continental economic integration, as well as mechanisms to bridge the climate financing gap in the African continent, making it an extension of the outstanding Egyptian effort to host and chair last year’s World Climate Summit.

In this regard, President Al-Sisi expressed Egypt’s full support for the Bank and its annual meetings, stressing Egypt’s constant keenness to promote African interests in all their forms and at all levels.
