Environment Minister announces holding Arts & Fashion Forum in Green Zone during COP27

Egypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad said on Saturday that for the first time in the history of climate conferences, the Arts and Fashion Forum will be held in the Green Zone, stressing the importance of arts in enlightening the society about environmental issues.

Fouad added that the role of arts and fashion in environmental issues is one of the topics that will be addressed in the side events during the COP27, to present recycling and reuse as a revolution in the world of arts and fashion to support and protect the environment.

This came during Fouad’s meeting with Sherif Salem, the chairperson of the organizing company of the forum, and representatives of a number of technical and commercial brands and fashion based on recycling and reuse to discuss their participation in COP27.

 

The meeting dealt with the presentations of representatives of a number of technical and fashion brands based on reuse and recycling to participate in the climate conference in the green area and the spaces required for participation, in addition to presenting their vision for participation and the expected results of participation.

Moreover, the minister also met via video conferencing with representatives of a number of fashion and furniture brands based on recycling and reuse, who expressed their desire to participate in fashion shows and shows for clothes based on recycling and use to raise awareness of climate change.

Representatives of the Egyptian Clothing Bank joined the meeting and expressed their willingness to participate and provide other participating parties with raw materials and used clothes.

The Minister of Environment called for the necessity of agreement and coordination between the participants on all offers and proposals and those in charge of them to reach a single and general vision that includes all the proposals and reflects the concepts and perceptions to be presented with the participation of all concerned parties, provided that a meeting will be held on Sunday for this purpose.
