Egypt condemns terrorist incident against Russian diplomatic mission in Kabul

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Monday expressing its deep condemnation of the terrorist incident that targeted the Russian diplomatic mission in Kabul on Monday, resulting in the death of two of its crew, in addition to a number of Afghan citizens.

The statement included Egypt’s condolences and sympathies to the government and people of the Russian Federation, and solidarity with them in this painful incident. Egypt also expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the Afghan citizens in the incident.

The statement also reiterated Egypt’s firm position on condemning all forms of terrorism and the need to address it and dry up its sources.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the killing of two of its employees at the Russian Embassy in Kabul by an explosion that occurred near its gate on Monday morning, according to Russia Today news website.

The Russian ministry said that an unknown gunman detonated an explosive device near the entrance to the consulate at 10:50 Kabul time, killing two employees of the Russian diplomatic mission, and a number of other Afghan citizens.
