Sameh Shoukry, Egypt’s Foreign Minister and the president-designate of COP27, received a phone call on Tuesday from Børge Brende, the President of the World Economic Forum (WEF), in the framework of bilateral consultations on various topics of common interest.

Ahmed Hafez, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the call dealt with the outstanding cooperation between Egypt and the WEF, which was manifested in the participation of the foreign minister in the last annual meeting of the WEF held in Davos, Switzerland, last May.

This meeting included a special programme on COP27, which will be hosted and chaired by Egypt in November.

In this context, the Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for the support of the WEF to the Egyptian Presidency for COP27, and his keenness on the success of the conference and its output of the desired results in favor of strengthening international climate action at various levels.
