The stereotypical portrayal of women has lessened in all the TV series that were released during the holy month of Ramadan in 2022, according to the National Council for Women (NCW).

The Council stated that it had monitored different series, shows, and advertisements on TV, radio, newspapers, and websites during Ramadan, stressing that the makers of TV and radio works abided by the Council’s recommendations in this regard.

The NCW said that women with disabilities were well represented in TV and radio productions and were shown as having strength and determination.

The council asserted that the rights of women with disabilities need to be addressed in the media.

The report noted that there were 44 women with disabilities or mothers of people with disabilities in Ramadan TV and radio series, magazines, and newspapers, out of approximately 1,200 female characters.
