Stay At Home: Ministry of Culture to publish free books online for public browsing

The Ministrty of Culture will publish online several heritage books and publications of the General Egyptian Book organization, for free on the ministry’s official website, as part of the Stay At Home campaign, when encourages citizens to avoid gatherings in order stop the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem said on Tuesday that the new initiative is part of ministry’s project “culture is in your fingertips” which also offered several of the ministry’s theatrical productions online, as an attempt by the government to provide different sources of culture while millions are staying.

The ministry encouraged citizens people not to leave their homes by streaming plays and concerts online every day at 9 pm. Abdel Dayem called to spend the time in self isolation to invest in knowledge and spreading awareness.

Also, the Supreme Council of Culture said it will hold online cultural events and will aim to online reading by publishing a series of Arab cultural episodes entitled Read With Us.

Read With Us features several Arab writers reading parts of their work. Many Arab writers participated in the event by recording videos and sending it to the Supreme Council of Culture.
