Sri Lanka gifts books to New Administrative Capital’s library

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Cairo gifted a group of books to the Capital Library of the New Administrative Capital (NAC) in the presence of Sri Lanka’s Ambassador M.K. Pathmanaathan, and Director of the Arts and Culture City in the NAC Mohamed Al-Saadany, on Monday 7 February.

The books feature Sri Lanka’s culture, history, biodiversity, and architecture, etc. and were gifted to the library on the occasion of the 74th Anniversary of the Independence of Sri Lanka and to promote cultural relations between Sri Lanka and Egypt.

Al-Saadany and Zain Abdel Hady, the Head of the Library, briefed the ambassador on the concept of the Art and Culture City, which consists of an opera house, a museum, and the library.  Furthermore, both sides discussed the importance of promoting cooperation in the fields of culture and arts between Sri Lanka and Egypt, which would pave the way for fostering stronger people to people relations between the two counties. 

The director also expressed Egypt’s keenness to explore avenues of cooperation with cultural institutions in Sri Lanka.
