Shoukry stresses need to create climate to revive Palestinian – Israeli peace negotiations

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry received on Tuesday Jibril Rajoub, the Secretary of the Fatah Central Committee, to discuss the situation in Palestine and reviving the peace negotiations with Israel.

Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Hafez said that Rajoub briefed the minister on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the challenges and entitlements that the Palestinian arena is witnessing in the coming period.

They also discussed the prospect of moving the political process forward and contact the parties concerned with the Palestinian issue.

Rajoub expressed appreciation for Egypt’s role in supporting the Palestinian cause and people, including the centrality of the Egyptian role in achieving the desired Palestinian national reconciliation.

Shoukry affirmed Egypt’s support for Palestinian efforts aiming to strengthen the Palestinian situation on all political and economic levels, including supporting development requirements throughout the Palestinian territories.

He also stressed the need to create the appropriate atmosphere to revive the negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.

Shoukry affirmed Egypt’s support for all means of action to achieve the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people and establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with all internationally legitimate resolutions.
